My favorite writing assignment for this class has to be the “stop raising awareness already” one which is really interesting to me as it gives me a general idea of what people are like and new insights into how people move. Basically their psychology when really thinking about it in depth. This one article and assignment made me realize how human nature is based on instinct and social reliability to live a better life. When reading the article I thought about this example I made a few months back: If there was a protest saying that apples are bad and more than a thousand people joined in to protest that apples are bad for the doctors livelihood and career, would you really want to go outside and tell them “APPLES ARE GOOD FOR YOUR TEETH!”?

I wouldn’t think so, as in doing that, you would cause people to shift their “awareness” of “get rid of apples” to “This person is disagreeing with us and they need to be removed for the sake of our cause” because after all, how can you get your point across if something is in the way of it? Arguments will start, fights would break out, etc. My point with this exaggerated example is that people don’t say what they want to in fear of the retribution they might receive because of their opinions and these “Awareness” things just make people annoyed as it’s simply something they want to speak out about but literally cannot becase of this fear and now known “cancel culture”. The reason why this is meaningful to me is that you can actually provide two or more ideas to the audience you are trying to get across instead of one idea which is the “only” idea. Providing options and chance for a more free choice and discussion is always best as there are methods to combat the same issue the sides are concerned about. Once again, this can be put into example as: a forest is deteriorating because of the overpopulation of beavers chopping them down and is causing the lumberjacks to not get their jobs done properly. One party is concerned about the beavers, the other about the jobs. They can come and discuss how to deal with the beaver population, whether that be relocation of the worksites, beavers, or constructing a dam to block rivers which would lead the beavers to move together somewhere else. Because of this assignment i was able to realize a lot and also learn a lot which I am very appreciative for.
